In honor of Christmastime, I wanted to share some pictures of our house!
This is my little German Christmas tree I brought back a few years ago. Please excuse the scratches on the furniture. We made the mistake of putting one of Annie's toys in time out on the top of the dresser. She would climb the walls to get one of her toys back.
Our German Christmas figurine. I didn't bring this back with the tree; a friend of my Dad's sent it to us several years ago when he was stationed there.
This is a reindeer that has been a part of my Christmas since I was a little girl. You can tell by how yellow his poor googly eye is that he has seen better days. My sister currently has his big brother at her house.
The Russian nesting nutcrackers were sent along with the German figurine when my sister and I were little. The "Joy" candle holder has been in my bedroom at Christmas for as long as I can remember. It used to have a little candle that fit in the top, but we lost that several years ago to the oppressive heat of an Alabama summer in an attic.
Our Christmas tree! I had a very pretty tree topper and some sparkly ribbon that I planned on putting up. However, since I'm banned from climbing tall ladders and hanging over the side until after March, I'm still waiting on Andrew to bring the ladder up so I can complete my decorating.
During the rest of the year, we have a large picture over the mantle and other decorations and pictures sitting on the mantle itself. I decided to try something new this year and replace the picture with some wreaths. I decorated them myself from sparkly tree decorations I had left over. I think they turned out pretty darn well!
A view of the living room with all the decorations. Pardon my phone on the back of the couch. Sometimes the small viewfinder on the camera makes you blind to things in the picture itself.
Decorations for the kitchen table. Blog poll - Does my "W" look like an upside down "M?" It really is an "M," but I didn't think it was that obvious. However, every time Andrew walks by he makes a smart comment about my upside down letter.
Our Christmas card collection on the fridge. Note sweet Everett, the Woods, Emma and Will, the Beams, and precious Anna Scott!
I won this little reindeer last year at Mary Catherine's ornament swap party. I have started a tradition of hanging decorations on the kitchen cabinet knobs. I only have two so far, but I'm trying to find unique, mismatched ornaments to add to my collection.
My other kitchen cabinet ornament.
Dining room and dining room table decorations.

This Christmas village is another Christmas item from my childhood. Since my mom doesn't have my sister and myself at home to help decorate anymore, she has given us a lot of the decorations for our own houses.

View of the front stoop. I'm sorry that you can't see the door decorations too well. However, it's probably for the best because my wreath is already brown and dying. I guess you do need to water those things. Yes, we do still have our Alabama flag out. Depending on the outcome of the BCS game, it may, hopefully, stay up for much longer. And if you look very closely, you can see two puppies trying to figure out why Mom is standing outside in the cold in her pajamas.
Our animated deer. These things are a pain to put together and very difficult to get working correctly. But my dad would be proud that we are representing the deer in the front yard.
The overall outside. This is the first year we have put the wreaths on the windows, and I think they look good! It wasn't as difficult to put up as I thought since the top sections of the windows lower. I'm just surprised they haven't blown off yet.
Hope you enjoyed the tour! From our family to yours, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

So very pretty!!! Merry Christmas to you and Andrew! Your home is beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty Maggie! Love the wreaths above the mantle. Everything looks great and it's neat to see that so many decorations hold lots of memories from childhood. I tend to agree with Andrew that the "W" looks like a "M" upsidedown, haha.
