Fabulous Five Months

Amelia is five months and still perfectly perfect!  We had a great time capturing her photos, as it seems she grows more and more curious about the large, black camera and any "props" I give her to play with.  She can be stingy with her smiles though and prefers to appear serious.

So we're doing this photo thing again huh?

I guess I can try to be excited.

I sure do make a cute model!

Mom?  What are these things you put on my feet?

Maybe I could be a shoe model...

...or maybe I could be a shoe taster.

Of course it wouldn't be a photo shoot without some outtakes.  We are 3 for 3 for no tears during picture time.  Hopefully, we can keep this streak alive for a while.

Silly face.

Boston!  Don't you see that I'm trying to model here!  Go away!

What do you mean I have to go to daycare in September?

Say it isn't so!

Oh the drool...

I want to taste my giraffe.

Gonna get you!

I think giraffe is trying to push me over.

Toes!

Come on Mom!  Look at me!

Amelia just continues to grow and grow!  While we don't go to the doctor until late September for her 6 month appointment, I've been weighing and measuring her recently.  Looks like we are still on target for 25% weight and height, and she still has a 75%-sized head.  No wonder she hates being on her tummy and trying to lift that heavy head up.  She is still in Size 2 diapers, but she is starting to outgrow some of her 6 month summer outfits.  We purchased her some 6 to 9 month clothes for when she starts daycare, so hopefully, she can get good use out of those.  She starts at Odyssey on September 10, and I know that she will enjoy being there.  She has started to have some separation issues, but I'm sure she will be fine once she gets used to the teachers and the other babies.  I'll be honest - the place looks so fun that I want to go spend my days there.  Maybe she can go to work for me? ;)  She is still sleeping like a champ and eats 4 to 5 times a day (total of 20+ ounces).  She also gets 4 ounces of a juice/water mix each day.  We have also officially started solid food!  I will post some pictures of that soon.  We had a video, but it got deleted on Andrew's phone along with everything else when he tried to update his iPhone software.  Amelia is now a master at putting her paci in by herself.  One reason she tends to sleep a little later in the morning is that she will wake up, find her Wubba, and go back to sleep.  All I have to do is hand it to her, and she hold on to it until she feels like putting it in her mouth.  We are still working on sitting up unassisted and having tummy time.  If she is in the exersaucer or Bumbo or Jenny Jump Up, she can sit up fine, but when she is sitting unassisted, she pushes with her feet and topples over.  Amelia also loves for someone to sing to her.  If you add in motions, she thinks it is hilariously funny.  She also loves watching SuperWhy on PBS.  I can sit her on the bed in the morning and get 30 minutes of free time while she is engrossed in the show.  She's mastered so many skills recently, but we still have more to work on before her 6 month update!

Sweetest Amelia - Mom and Dad just can't believe how awesome you are!  You are cool to just hang out with us whether we are out to eat or shopping or you're at Mom's office.  Everyone comments on what a precious baby you are!  We love you so very much!  In fact, Daddy even got a new job just so he could be home to love on you more!  We can't wait to see what new things you learn in the coming month!  You are going to be one smart little cookie, and we love watching you learn and grow!  You are our most treasured little angel!
