Super Special May 13th

I suppose I should have blogged about May 13th before Amelia's two month checkup.  It occurred to me the other day that I completely forgot to altogether.

28 years ago at sometime around 7:00 p.m. (I'm too lazy at the moment to get up and figure out the exact time) on May 13th, the evening of Mother's Day, I made my entrance in the world.  My mom said she had been having contractions that morning during church and once she made it to my aunt's house for M-Day lunch, she realized that today was going to be the special day.  I spent my first birthday on Mother's Day, and I was blessed enough to spend my first Mother's Day on my birthday.

Amelia and I spent the day before on a road trip with our friends Anna and Lucy to celebrate with our other friends Mary Catherine and Anna Scott for Anna Scott's first birthday.  I can't believe that sweet girl is already one year old!  Her party was absolutely wonderful - MC should be a professional party planner.  The decorations were gorgeous, the location was gorgeous, the food was so pretty you didn't want to eat it but when you did it was delicious!  Amelia really enjoyed the party even though she slept most of the time.  I think she was secretly planning her special day in 10 months.  Funny story - Anna and I stopped at Jack's on the way to Arab to grab a bite of lunch.  Both of the girls were wearing white headbands with pink bows, and THREE different people stopped at our table to ask about the "twins."

Once Amelia and I got back from the party, we met Daddy, my family, and Andrew's mom for a special combo M-Day/birthday dinner.  We started at J Alexander's at 5:00 p.m., but the wait was already 1 hour and 45 minutes.  We were starving, so we moved up the road to the Fish Market where there (luckily) wasn't a wait.  Dinner was delicious (as always at Fish Market), but the main event of the meal was dessert.  Andrew was sweet enough to order a special cake for me this year.  It was half white cake with white icing and half chocolate cake with chocolate icing from Edgars.  The white cake was decorated like a birthday cake and said "Happy Birthday," and the chocolate side was decorated like a M-Day cake and said "Happy Mother's Day!"  We put a good dent in the cake at dinner, but Andrew and I have since finished off the whole thing by ourselves.  So much for my diet plan...

I woke up on Mother's Day to 9 cards to open, a new record!  I had cards from Andrew, Amelia, my parents, my grandmother, and my sweet friend Kelly D in Washington.  While I was up at 5:00 a.m. to feed AJ, I didn't get out of bed until 2:00 p.m. when it was time for Andrew to go to sleep for work.  He was sweet enough to change all the diapers, go pick up lunch, fix my plate, and fix dessert.  It was nice to be waited on for a little while!

It was certainly the best birthday yet because our family was celebrating with one special new member!  And it was that special new member that allowed me to not only celebrate my birthday on the 13th, but my very first Mother's Day!
