Baby's First Easter

Baby's first Easter started off at the early, early hour of 4:45 a.m.  While Amelia was able to go back to sleep after her 4:00 breakfast, Mom and Dad were wide awake.  So we both got up and fixed us a yummy breakfast while we waited for the Easter Bunny to arrive.

Since little Amelia is such a sweet, good girl, the Easter Bunny came to visit her on this Easter Sunday!  While she slept through the opening of her basket, I know that she is really excited about all of her treats.  The Easter Bunny brought her some stacking cups to use in the bath that teach math (can't start too early!), a Praise Baby DVD (thanks Anna Scott for the suggestion!), two Easter books, and a little pink, soft bunny rabbit.  And even though Daddy is neither sweet nor good sometimes, the Easter Bunny also brought him a basket.  (Mainly, so the "Easter Bunny" didn't have to listen to him complain.)  Daddy's basket included some fun toys, one book Dad has been wanting, another book entitled "Why a Daughter Needs a Dad," and enough candy to last him till Memorial Day.  I sure hope Amelia didn't inherit her Daddy's love for candy!  After enjoying opening baskets, it was time to get ready for church to celebrate our risen Savior!

Unfortunately, since this was baby's first nursery trip, we weren't able to get before pictures.  Mom wanted to be sure she had plenty of time to check baby in and get her to her room.  One neat thing about our church is the way they handle nursery babies.  When you arrive, you check in on the computer and pick up a beeper and two sticker receipts.  One sticker goes on the back of baby's dress and lists her name, parent's name and number, and any allergies/preferences/special toys.  The other sticker only lists baby's first name and is the parent receipt.  You must have that receipt to pick up your baby from the nursery, so no one (whether purposefully or not) walks out with the wrong little one.  The beeper is for the parents to keep during the service.  If baby gets really upset and can't be calmed, you will be "beeped," so that baby doesn't have to sit there with a stranger and cry.  Needless to say, I was a bit worried we were going to get buzzed during the service.  But little Amelia was a trooper and was even sound asleep when we got back to pick her up!

So once we got home, even though her dress was wrinkly from the car seat, we took Easter pictures!

Sweet Amelia in her pretty pink, smocked dress!

Her tiny little pearl bracelet. Thanks Anna Scott!

Hi Mom! I see you!

I even had matching bloomers with an "A" for Amelia!

Eventually, I decided I was done taking pictures...

And I slowly descended...

Into full meltdown mode.

Mom tried to pacify me with my WubbaNub...

But not even that helped.

What a special Easter for us!  Not only were we able to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, we were able to celebrate baby's first Easter and praise God for the precious gift he has entrusted to us.  He has Risen!  He has Risen Indeed!
