If Babies Could Talk...

Hello Blog World! Amelia here. Mom and I are just sitting at the park enjoying our afternoon.  I'm not sure why I'm half dressed though.  I didn't know there any nudist parks in Hoover.  And by the way, this sure is a funny looking park now that I think about it...

Ummm...excuse me Mother?  What do you mean this isn't the park?  I thought that's where we were going!  Wait, WHAT? This is the doctor's office? Are you crazy woman? Why on earth would you bring me to the doctor's office?  I'm healthy!

I am SO going to make you regret this decision later tonight when you are trying to sleep.  Just you wait Mother.  Just you wait.  Oh and heaven forbid they try to give me any shots.  You aren't going to sleep for weeks.

I'm going to bust out of this joint before they even have a chance.  Freedom here I come!

Wait.  Let me get one last bit of Wubba time.  Need my energy if I'm going to make a run for it...

Thirty minutes later...So much my escape.  I'll let you slide this time, but don't you try to pull this trick again.  What's that you say?  We have another park trip scheduled in one month for our two month appointment?  Since when do you have to make an appointment to go to the park?  Something seems fishy about this...

Amelia was such a trooper at the doctor's office!  She weighed 8 pounds, 3.2 ounces and was measured at 20.25 inches long.  She's still in the 25th percentile for height and weight, but her head size was again measured in the 75th percentile.  Dr. McCain said she was perfectly healthy!  As AJ said above, she had to get a heel prick and one shot at this visit.  The heel prick for the PKU test didn't bother her near as much as the nurse relentlessly squeezing her foot for what seemed like 5 minutes.  It took forever to get those 5 little drops of blood for the test card.  When it came time for the shot, I felt anxious as if it was me who was having to be vaccinated.  Goodness gracious though, it completely broke my heart when they gave it to her.  Her face turned redder than I have ever seen it, and she let loose this torturous scream.  She sounded so hurt that it made me cry too!  After a minute though of bouncing and cuddling and shushing, she calmed down.  And 5 minutes later, she was sound asleep again as if none of it had ever happened.

My mom kept all of my sheets from my infant appointments, so we were able to compare her height and weight to mine at that age.  I weighed 8 pounds, 11 ounces and was 22 inches long when I was one month.  So for the time being, she is smaller and shorter than her mom, and we are looking forward to seeing how she grows!
